Eight Churches to Compete in Fountain View Quilt Show
The 2015 Autumn Quilt Show at Fountain View Assisted Living kicks off this year with an open house from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 1, and runs through Nov. 7.
The assisted living community located on the Friendship Village Sunset Hills (FVSH) campus will display quilts to the public made by local church goers and quilting groups from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and award two prizes of $1,000 and $500 in public voting.
Representatives from eight churches plan to compete: St. Paul Catholic Church, Fenton; St. Dominic Savio, Affton; St. Matthias the Apostle, Lemay; St. Simon the Apostle; St. Anthony of Padua, High Ridge; Our Lady of Providence, Crestwood; St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Mehlville, and St. Justin Martyr, Sunset Hills.
Normally an annual event, the quilt show and contest did not occur last year with staffing changes at the community, Nicole Summers, residency counselor, said.
Nestled in rolling hills, Fountain View serves as the assisted living arm of FVSH and boasts considerable natural beauty with views over the 52 acre FVSH campus. “The community’s reputation stands solidly on a 37 year tenure of serving Sunset Hills,” Summers said.
