Friendship Village Completes Upgrade, Adopts Logo, Name

For release 6 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 6- Friendship Village Chesterfield moves into a new era by celebrating the completion of refurbishments to the newly renamed Village Care Center, the adoption of a care center logo and installation of a new sign.

The Village Care Center, the skilled nursing and assisted living component of Friendship Village Chesterfield, sports a $1 million upgrade completed over a 16 month period from June, 2011, which brought new carpets, curtains, art work, cabinetry, decorative items, televisions and furniture to the 121 resident center.

The refurbishments will serve as a bridge for the community to the eventual construction of an entirely new care center and herald the launch of a new strategic plan and $15 million expansion program for the entire community which begins in early 2013.

Featuring a curved line supporting a leafy stem in warm gray and plum, the logo derives from the two colorful foliage and flower filled courtyards at the heart of the current care center.

To mark the new look as well as the name change and the logo, Friendship Village Chesterfield unveils the newly installed Village Care Center sign this week at an event on Thursday (Sept. 6) with local dignitaries, the nonprofit Village's local board of directors, residents, staff and invited guests.

"Each change and especially our facelift signal the continuum of care, support, rehabilitation and wellness that the local board of directors and the Friendship Village staff commit to those who live at the Village Care Center and in the larger Friendship Village Chesterfield community," Anita Martinez, Village Care Center administrator, said.

With more than 30 years of health care administration and education focused on seniors, Martinez brings a strong passion and compassion for residents and staff to the field of senior lifestyle and care.

"At Friendship Village Chesterfield's Village Care Center, we provide extended care, healthy living and rehabilitation so our residents mold a lifestyle which suits them, their situation and their desires," Martinez said.

Breaking ground near the first of next year on a major expansion plan announced earlier, the board for Friendship Village Chesterfield plans to add more independent living apartments and villas in a range of sizes, an underground parking garage, and a landscaped park in addition to a completely new care center.

While the full proposed expansion plan calls for the eventual replacement of the 34-acre community's existing Village Care Center, Martinez sees the current changes and work as evidence of the board and the community's strong tradition and commitment to senior wellness in the interim.

Nestled in the heart of Chesterfield at 15201 Olive Boulevard since 1974, Friendship Village Chesterfield, a not for profit governed by a local board of directors and administratively managed by Iowa based Life Care Services, provides a vibrant alternative for senior living with independent units, assisted living and skilled nursing care.

The LifeCare program at Friendship Village aims to assure seniors unlimited days of assisted living and skilled nursing care on site -- if needed -- at a continuing predictable and known cost. The financial model includes an entrance fee which varies with the type of residence selected plus a low monthly charge. Multiple plans exist for tailoring to specific needs and requirements.
